Hyatt Hotels and RLH Properties are rebranding Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya to Alila Mayakoba, which will mark the Alila brand’s entry into Latin America and the Caribbean. Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is expected to suspend operations on March 2, 2025 and debut as Alila Mayakoba later this year.
Both Andaz and Alila are Hyatt brands. According to the Alila website, "The Alila brand crafts rare and intimate experiences for well-traveled guests looking for reflection and impactful connections. Alila hotels are situated on the road less-traveled—really letting the guest get away from it all in order to relax, recharge, and re-energize."
Work will include more than a rebranding. As part of the transition, the property will get rid of some guestrooms and with the space, increase the suite count to 40 percent of the total inventory. The property will feature indoor and outdoor wellness spaces, programming led by experts and local healers, a renovated spa with outdoor communal hydrotherapy amenities, gardens to be used in guest programming, and a new temazcal, a traditional Mexican steam bath supporting therapeutic and spiritual well-being. Guests can look forward to diverse experiences that encourage them to explore beyond the resort and discover the Mayan Riviera "in a transformative way."
What we love: Amongst other food and beverage additions, a new lobby lounge will serve up artisanal cocktails using local ingredients; a beachfront restaurant and a new beach club are also on tap.
Additionally, the hotel will open with refreshed indoor and outdoor meeting and events spaces ideal for special events, celebrations and weddings.
Until the hotel resumes operations, guests and World of Hyatt members with existing reservations at Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya (for stays after March 2, 2025) have the option to relocate to other Hyatt properties or another hotel within the Mayakoba complex, or cancel their stay with no penalty.
