Curtain Bluff, the luxury resort on the island of Antigua, has announced new ownership for the first time in its 63-year history. As of November 1, Tim and Pat Scott, entrepreneurs from the United Kingdom, acquired the 72-key beachfront property, confirming that the same management team and all 230 employees of the resort will continue in their operational roles. As part of the transition, Curtain Bluff will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation of its accommodations, restaurants, and spa and wellness spaces over a three-year period starting Q2 2025.
The change in ownership maintains Curtain Bluff’s family-owned heritage and follows the property’s addition to the Relais & Châteaux portfolio. All renovations will be conducted during seasonal closures to ensure the guest experience remains top priority.
“Pat and I have long admired Curtain Bluff, which is globally renowned for its stunning location and experiences, but what makes it stand out for us is the team’s intuitive, personal service and an inimitable atmosphere that makes guests want to return again and again,” said Tim Scott. “As new owners, our aim is to further enhance facilities and amenities while preserving the original Curtain Bluff magic.”
Originally founded by Howard and Chelle Hulford in 1962, Curtain Bluff’s legacy as a top Caribbean resort extends over six decades. Howard passed away in 2009, with Chelle taking over as "matriarch" of the property in the time since. Then, last August, Chelle passed away at the age of 86.
Located on the southern coast, the boutique property has 72 accommodations with oceanfront views, two beaches, two locally inspired restaurants, a wine cellar, four championship tennis courts with access to on-site pros, an adults-only wellness area complete with infinity pool and yoga pavilion, and a water’s-edge spa. As an all-inclusive luxury property, the rate covers accommodations, all meals and premium drinks, and sports and leisure activities including water skiing, paddle-boating, tubing, kayaking, scuba diving, Hobie Cat sailing, squash, Bocce, shuffleboard, basketball and pickleball.
