Capella Hotel Group Announces Expansion Plans

Capella Hotel Group has unveiled its expansion plans for 2025, which includes properties in Taipei (March), Macau (Q2) and Kyoto (Q4), along with a Patina property in Osaka (April). Here's what's on tap:

Andre Fu Studio’s vision will come to life in Capella Taipei, opening Q1 2025 along the tree-lined Dunhua North Road. This 86-key property embodies Fu’s concept of a “modern mansion,” offering an urban retreat in the Songshan district. The property’s floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Taipei 101 and the distant mountains; the hotel will also house five dining venues and a tri-level bar destination.

Moinard Bétaille brings its distinctive design sensibility to Capella at Galaxy Macau, slated to open in Q2 2025. This 93-key, art-filled property’s design pays homage to the city’s heritage through light-filled Sky Villas and suites, while the interiors echo the Portuguese-Chinese architecture that characterizes Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Opening in Q2 2025 will be Patina Osaka. The 221-key property’s design concept draws inspiration from water, embodying the essence of Japan’s “City of Water” through contemporary interpretations of Japanese esthetics. The hotel will be situated opposite the Osaka Castle and adjacent to Naniwa-no-Miya-Ato Park, with its arrival experience on the 20th floor offering direct views over the castle. Signature restaurant P72 will celebrate Japan’s 72 micro-seasons.

Capella Kyoto

Lastly, slated to open in Q4 2025, the 89-key Capella Kyoto in the historic Miyagawa-chō district reflects the collaborative vision of Kengo Kuma & Associates and Brewin Design Office. The design draws from the neighborhood’s cultural heritage surrounding the Kenninji Temple, preserving traditional Higashiyama culture through attention to Zen Buddhism, wabi-sabi esthetics and classic elements like tatami and Zen gardens. An inner courtyard, adjacent to the signature Capella Living Room, serves as a central point, creating flow between public and private spaces.

Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group, said: “With these openings, we’re expanding from eight properties to 12 by the end of 2025, with plans to double our portfolio by 2030. Future projects include a branded residential development in Seoul and hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Tianjin, China.”
