Elewana Collection Debuts Serengeti Explorer

Elewana Collection has announced the opening of Serengeti Explorer, the first lodge under the new Explorer by Elewana collection. Serengeti Explorer’s opening will be followed by the opening of Ngorongoro Explorer in 2026 and Tarangire Explorer at a later date.

Situated in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti Explorer is located on the Nyaboro Hills, making it the perfect hub from which to see the Great Migration. The property is also home to the Serengeti’s first-ever on-site hide overlooking a watering hole, allowing guests to view wildlife without travelling far from base. Accessed through an underground tunnel from the lodge, the hide allows wildlife enthusiast to witness nature at play as animals visit for much needed refreshment.

Built on the grounds of Serengeti Sopa Lodge, Serengeti Explorer has 74 rooms, including six suites. The team employed careful reconstruction practices, recycling many of the existing materials, so as not to disrupt the delicate ecosystem and ensure minimal impact on the surroundings. All rooms have a private balcony, while configurations cater to couples, friends, families and groups of all sizes with interconnecting rooms. There are even rooms with wheelchair access.

Dining options range from the Divai chef’s table located within a wine cellar, to a Boma restaurant offering a bush dinner of African and Swahili signature dishes under the Serengeti sky. Additionally, the main Acacia restaurant and Kisimani poolside bistro and bar both serve farm-to-table cuisine.

Serengeti Explorer offers a plethora of activities aside from game drives and walking safaris. A children’s bushcraft center caters to families, whilst an outdoor cinema shows African movie classics as well as more current releases. Other facilities include an infinity pool; the Riva Wellness Centre, which offers a range of treatments, massage and yoga; an art gallery showcasing local talent; a retail center selling local crafts; and a photo studio. Guests can also enjoy expert-led night safaris on the stargazing deck.
