The luxury and lifestyle hotel ascent at IHG Hotels & Resorts takes another step forward this spring in South America.
The hotel giant is opening its first Vignette Collection hotel in Lima, Peru—a first opening on the South American continent for the lifestyle brand. SOUMA Hotel Lima is located in the city’s Miraflores neighborhood and is now accepting reservations for stays beginning in March.
“Peru is a destination celebrated for its beauty and culture, and we are excited to lay the foundation for the growth of Vignette Collection in South America with the brand’s first property here,” Leanne Harwood, IHG’s senior vice president and managing director of luxury and lifestyle of the Americas region, said in a statement. “SOUMA Hotel Lima is filled with individuality and character and brings a new dimension of discovery to Vignette Collection, which has experienced strong momentum globally in its first three years. This latest addition perfectly complements the portfolio’s unique hotels in memorable destinations from Bangkok and Lisbon to Shanghai, Budapest and Dubai.”
The new hotel, which has views of the Pacific Ocean, is operated by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, which is also IHG’s strategic partner on a global all-inclusive resort portfolio.
SOUMA Hotel Lima is meant to follow in Vignette Collection’s ethos of “one-of-a-kind” experiences through design, flavors and tastes. The hotel is inspired by Peru’s Pacaya Samiria Nature Reserve and encompasses a mix of minimalist décor with natural materials.

Certain aspects of the SOUMA experience might sound reminiscent of IHG’s ultra-luxe Six Senses brand in that you won’t find any single-use plastics in the hotel’s 214 guest rooms. This is part of the broader Vignette Collection’s “A Means for Good” initiative, where each property has a distinct commitment to community and local culture.
Each Vignette Collection property also has a “Memorable Ritual,” which at SOUMA Hotel Lima entails complimentary sunrise yoga on the property’s roof twice a week. Guests can also enjoy a daily pisco cocktail tasting on the rooftop while enjoying sunset over the Pacific.
Beyond a sunset pisco happy hour, guests can also check out Ortega and Huamán, a Peruvian-Mediterranean fusion restaurant, while 27 Tapas mixes Spanish and Peruvian small plates. Kimo is the hotel’s Japanese Nikkei-style restaurant with views overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
For those looking to unwind, the hotel has a heated infinity pool as well as Bambu Spa with a mix of treatment offerings and a sauna. SOUMA Hotel Lima also offers a 24-hour fitness center and nearly 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The property participates in the IHG One Rewards loyalty program.
The property is a significant step forward for the Vignette Collection, which launched in 2021 and has surpassed its launch target of reaching 100 hotels either open or in the development pipeline by the time the brand hits 10-years-old. The IHG brand experienced a significant growth spurt last year with new properties in Thailand, Qatar and Indonesia, among others.
Vignette Collection—which goes head-to-head with competitors like Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Hyatt’s Unbound Collection and Hilton’s Curio Collection—is now a global player for IHG and has open properties everywhere from Washington, D.C., to Shanghai.
