Banwa Private Island in Palawan, Philippines has announced the launch of a new diving adventure in collaboration with Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park. “Dive into Paradise” combines a luxurious stay at Banwa Private Island with a diving adventure in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park from June 5 to 14. This collaboration strengthens Banwa Private Island’s commitment towards promoting biodiversity awareness and supporting Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park’s marine conservation efforts.
Established in 1988 as the Philippines’ first marine protected area, Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Tubbataha Reefs, a remote coral atoll system in the Sulu Sea, is known for its biodiversity and is home to an array of marine life, including more than 600 species of fish, manta rays, sharks, dolphins and whales. With visibility often reaching around 100 feet, this expedition offers a rare opportunity to witness the underwater world while supporting marine conservation efforts. Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is an important asset for global conservation, as 181 of the species found there are threatened to some degree, ranging from Vulnerable to Critically Endangered.
Banwa Private Island, through its Aquos Foundation, is committed to marine conservation. Recognized as one of the top Philippines’ Important Areas for Sharks and Rays (ISRA), the island actively supports coral reef restoration efforts, conducts regular marine research, and participates in shark and ray monitoring programs, ensuring the preservation of this ecosystem for future generations.
Limited spaces are available for the “Dive into Paradise” adventure.
